Welcome Team Captains!
Thank you for leading a team in the 2014 Run to the Sun Relay. Your commitment and leadership is making a difference in the fight against Batten disease.
As a team captain, you will play an important role in making sure your team is prepared for race day. Your responsibilities will include recruiting team members, ensuring members are registered, communicating with teammates, leading fundraising and training efforts and making sure everyone is prepared for race day. But don’t worry! You are not alone. We are here to support you every step of the way.
The Beyond Batten Disease Foundation staff and race coordinators will provide you with everything you need to help you and your team be ready to run to the sun come race day! Support and resources we provide include:
-Run to the Sun overview
-Online registration system
-Donation link to send to potential donors and team sponsors, and other tools to help you fundraise
-Professional training run opportunities in the spring leading up to the event
-Team Captain kickoff event hosted by Event Chair Lance Thompson
-Beyond Batten Disease Foundation website providing details about use of funds and current research programs
-Templates for email donation solicitation and scripts for in-person or phone donation requests
-Monthly emails with tips and tricks about fundraising, training and more!
How to Start a Team
It’s easy! Start by registering as a runner today. Registration fees are $85 per runner. During registration, you will have the opportunity to create a team. Entering a team name will create a team page, where you can view and manage team members and fundraising. Once your registration is complete, team members will be able to choose your team from the “Join a Team” drop-down menu during registration or alternatively straight from the team page.
