Why I Run to the Sun
Words cannot accurately describe the journey I took this weekend. I am still riding high on emotions and adrenaline. One of the most amazing things I have ever been a part of. I cannot wait to do it again next year!
As I wearily began to trudge up the first hill I could see the dawn breaking and something overtook my body that I cannot explain. I flew those last few miles faster then I have ever run for my sweet Christiane!
It’s great being a part of a community of people who push themselves mentally and physically while striving to make a real difference.
This past weekend is one I look forward to every year. I feel especially proud because I am one of the few that can say I’ve run it every year since the beginning. Without fail, I have cried at the end of my second leg every time because I’m done, and because I’m loving every minute of the night.
I can hardly say enough about last night. It is truly hard to put into words, but it will remain one of my most treasured memories. I was explaining to someone today about the “energy, community, excitement fun and HOPE” and it was truly difficult if you were not a party of it.
What a unique event. I love running through night in the Hill Country.
There is so much to love about this event! The camaraderie! Feeling of accomplishment! Helping end Batten!
It was really special. It may have been because the kids on the course were SO ADORABLE! Or could it have been the most AMAZING exchange points ever? I was blown away. That just made it so special. What a wonderful tradition. I’m still reeling from it.
I know I speak for the team when I tell you that we love being a part of such a cause so very dear to our hearts. We love the idea that we can make a real difference.
The first few exchange stations were great; it was awesome having all of those kids there! The atmosphere at the run is so positive, and we enjoy it so much.
