Why I Run to the Sun
The first few exchange stations were great; it was awesome having all of those kids there! The atmosphere at the run is so positive, and we enjoy it so much.
The transition points were “over the top”. The generosity of the people and their spots was the most encouraging and uplifting thing I have experienced in a long time.
Every year I feel this connection that’s hard to explain. A connection to my coworkers/friends, a connection to the running community, a connection to making a difference, a connection to nature, a connection to your family, a connection to myself.
The Benson family is so inspirational to all of us. This is the best event we participate in. Thank you so much for being so strong and creating Beyond Batten Disease Foundation to make a difference.
This past weekend is one I look forward to every year. I feel especially proud because I am one of the few that can say I’ve run it every year since the beginning. Without fail, I have cried at the end of my second leg every time because I’m done, and because I’m loving every minute of the night.
I can hardly say enough about last night. It is truly hard to put into words, but it will remain one of my most treasured memories. I was explaining to someone today about the “energy, community, excitement fun and HOPE” and it was truly difficult if you were not a party of it.
We love the way people come together to support a great cause and have a blast doing it!
There is so much to love about this event! The camaraderie! Feeling of accomplishment! Helping end Batten!
Bensons, you are never alone on this journey. Although we may not always have the answers to help or know the challenges that come, we run for you and your family during the Run to the Sun, and on many other running adventures we take.
It’s great being a part of a community of people who push themselves mentally and physically while striving to make a real difference.
